Road Blocks

Road Blocks have been my close personal friend this last month! Every time I feel like I am past a huge road block, I see another even bigger sign saying “bump ahead!” I am not one to complain, but I do try to take away something positive from every bad thing that happens. You guys are the positive! I thought to myself, “everyone must have some road blocks, and possibly some like mine, and just maybe I can help.”

Physical Road Blocks

Big thing that I can’t get off my mind. I just found out yesterday that I have a pretty big hernia, and I have to be careful when exerting myself until I can have surgery… I just got over a pulled hamstring 5 months ago! Ah!!! It took 3 months for that hamstring to heal, and who knows how long it will take for this to heal.

POSITIVES!! Having a pulled hamstring helped me to really focus on building my upper body during those 3 months of healing. I haven’t quite found my positive for my hernia, but, in my defense, I did just find out yesterday. Believe me, I am not going to stop looking for it though!

Emotional/mental Road Blocks

Insomnia has struck again in my life, and it has hit me hard. For those of you that have had insomnia, you KNOW that is one hell of an emotional and mental struggle! Lack of sleep makes it hard to function at your best in any part of life. POSITIVE! My sleepless nights have given me so much inspiration for different ways to raise my kids, inspiration for workouts for all of you, and inspiration for how to overcome the insomnia. Ha Ha

Here is what I have found that I can do on my own to overcome life road blocks:

  1. Look for the positive in a negative situation! What good thing would’ve never happened, had you not gone through this situation? There is always good in every aspect of life, we just have to find it.
  2. Let go of the things that aren’t truly important in this life! This one is so hard for me. I always feel like I am superwoman and can do it all. I let go of somethings that was comfortable to me, but in the end I was so glad that I did, to make room for the most important thing, family.
  3. “Just Focus on taking that next step forward!” Don’t look at the mountain you have to climb, look down at what is right in front of you. If you are with your kids, be with your kids, not on your phone. If you are exercising, exercise! Give it 100% of your attention while you are there.

We all have road blocks! You are not alone, whether it is physical, mental, or emotional. Start walking today, “Just Focus on taking that next step forward,” you will be to the top of that mountain before you know it. What are some road blocks that you have hit? What have you done to overcome them?

I am a mom of two littles and have had 3 serious surgeries in the last 8 years. Seeing my body go through the ups and downs of these changes has urged me to learn more about nutrition and change my eating standards. Since then, I have seen enormous changes in my kids, husband, and myself. I want to share the knowledge I have to help others to feel as amazing as I feel! Competing at a collegiate level in Basketball for 4 years and obtaining my bachelor’s degree in business, brought me to a hobby of Personal Training for 12 years. I have helped a large range of people, anyone from a college athlete, to someone who just started. I have shared my love of exercising and motivating through teaching Group Fitness Courses for 3 years and continuing as a certified personal trainer for people of all different ranges. I am furthering my education daily with new certifications and the latest and greatest available knowledge on exercise and nutrition.
